Advice on awards

Hi gents ,

Sorry if this is not a totally correct post but quite frankly i dont collect this type of thing.
My collegues father was in 116 GS TP Coy RASC. Dday+6, he has brought this stuff from home. The box it was in was locked and we had to break it open.
Various awards , his campaign medals, pay books etc , demob papers, and a map that appears to be the master index of Germany 1-25000 printed in 1939
January.

Any advise on the awards , and what the premise behind them was would be much appreciated .

Maybe there is an extra maker's mark on loop ring.

Hi Tim, aside from the Iron Cross second class (EKII) you have:

Eastern Front medal for Winter 41/42. Given to soldiers who fought in Russian in the Winter of that year.

Mothers Cross in Bronze. For women having four children.

War Merit medal (Suspension ring is broken off) Given in the millions for war work.

Hindenburg Cross without swords. Service in WW1, but not frontline.

Luftschutze medal. For service in the German counterpart to our ARP.

All pretty common items, nothing rare or valuable, but all original.

Re awards

Hi gents,

Thank you very much for the descriptions and information, as i said no knowledge on this king of thing.

Ludwig, i sort of guessed that it probably was not neccassary but i was just hedging my bets. The waffens on the kit i do collect are so small that i dont have to worry about those at all.

I will let Bob know what you have said. It is a curious mix of stuff but i suppose thier was rather a lot of items around that were potential souveniers. This is
not the right forum for it but the map has got small penciled circles around various locations. Cant say for sure but it looks like his father was using it to mark his drops or where he perhaps was based for a while as they moved across holland and into germany.
