    Hi,

Your question is VERY broad!! I'm sorry, but there is no easy answer.

3-peice construction with a steel (magnetic) core is always a good start. After that, if your example is marked on the ring, you will need to compare it to a known original from the SAME maker.

Buying a good reference book would be a good start - these days a book like Gordon Williamson's "The Iron Cross of 1939" or Stephen Previtera's "The Iron Time - A History of the Iron Cross" can be bought for less than the cost of a genuine 1939 EK2. This way you will also learn about the different vairants.

Post pictures on this forum and you'll get the best response as to whether a cross may be genuine or fake.

    Good luck!

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!
