EK1 identification, probably W&L ???

Hello all,

I assume this is an unmarked W&L?
The brass core, particular patina at the back and characteristics made me think so, but I saw several W&L crosses with a different hook.
So that's why I ask...

It's no W&L EK I.
I think it could be a Steinhauer & Lück EK I.

Not all non-magnetic EK I's are by W&L.

Indeed the brass pointed me to W&L first, but the C hook didn't fit in that.

S&L did not came to my mind as I only thought about those more square C-hooks, the later type.

Before W&L went to the flatwire catch they also used the large dia. round wire in their early crosses. Knowing the date appearance and the frame beading is very beneficial in ID'ing the makers, as well as the metal used in the construction of the components. And, remember, makers used one-another's components from time to time to fill contracts for a demanding government. So, everything was not always a perfect world - variants were part of the scheme of things.
