    EK2 Collection

    Dear All,

I have had a large update to my EK2 collections lately, gathering a 13mm and packet separately and a 3mm EK2 and a few loose packets to go with my other EK's which I'll be posting shortly.

As a quick question, is the below a good unmarked Souval EK2 ... I haven't any more pics at the mo ... but just want the nod before I buy this cross.

Many Thanks and Kind Regards as always,

    Gareth

It's not a Souval EK II.

I agree with Grueni, not a Souval...

Thanks Grueni, I saw the frame corners and it looked like the trandmark ridge of a Souval, many thanks anyway - any ideas who it was manufactured by ?

        Regards,

That it has Gareth, but it doesnt have the Souval flaw on the top left beading on the cross.

IMO, it doesn't even have the correct corners...

Beg my pardon, it doesn't does it, I can see that the souval has a "birds foot" type ridge with 3 distinct beads, whereas this example has a single ridge ... hmmm ...

I should have thought that is quite distinctive to hard core EK collectors ... got it wrong again

Any ideas on the maker in light of this ?

              Thanking you all,

              Gareth

I need close ups from the numbers 1939 and 1813.

Looking through the forum this is what I have concurred - crosses that have a similar beading at the corners :-

113 - but swastika is different

19 - but the frame of a 19 is much wider than this example

44 - but again the frame on a 44 looks wider

                  27 - seems quite close

                  7 - looks very promising

93 - as does this example

                  .... hmmmm ... bit lost

What do you guys think ? Unfortunately Grueini I haven't access to the cross at the moment, I've been trying to work it out from the beading and then looking at the swastika and styles and their placement in relation to other characteristics.

Nice work, and it is work, but we still would need close ups to determine the maker.

                      Thanks to all,

                          Dear All,

Especially Robert and Grueni, the cross arrived this morning and is quite a nice well defined cross... been looking all day for a similarity with a known maker but still scratching my head. Here are some better pics ?

                          Regards To All As Always,

I'm sorry, but I don't recognize this date or this frame detailing. Maybe Grueni or others can lend a hand. It's not to say this cross is not original, because I believe more that it is than not, but which maker made it I just don't know. There were so many private makers in the Reich's Verband (State of Federal Workers Association) that started out in the large Co-Ops and later went private, that crosses like these are hard to identify. I have four crosses today that I have just not found a maker for yet because these is just no tracing them. Some private makers made crosses from parts and pieces they could buy to fulfill contracts. The Iron Cross is a never-ending study, put simple.

It could be a Großmann & Co.
