Grueni is (of course) very right.
Unfortunately this is a copy by Johannes Floch.

The needle system is the best identifier.
Take note of the very wide flat pin and never forget it anymore.
You will encounter it many times more in your career as a collector.

Hope you didn't buy it already or that you can get you money back.

          Best regards,
          Martin

              Yes, hello Mr Floch

Have seen a number of photos with the bamboo(?) mat in the background. Wonder where that's from?

I don’t really think this helps but anyway I will tell you what he sent me to warn other collectors. He contacted me by email and called himself Pawel Novak His email is:
                Shipwrecks.Research@yahoo.com
                or
                Pawel Nowak shipwrecks.recovery@yahoo.com

Thank you for your answer. I have got these items as a payment for my archival research work. But I also detect some places with my metal detector and I have found some items personaly. I am an archivist and I live in Poland. I am 32 and I was educated in the University of Lodz (International Public Law Faculty). But my main interest is archival research. Diving and sailig also. I spend a lof of time in the archives and museums. Where I have a lot of friends. For example I know Cmdr. Ltd. David Watters who was a Deputy Director in National Maritime Museum in London. I have also friends in Ministry of Defence in UK. I am sending to you some of my credentials and references I have got in English archives. I hope it will help to trust me a little. If you will need I can also send to you my EU Passport and EU Driving Licence.
                End of cut <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

He attached lots of strange papers from MoD which made me suspicious right from the start, so I decided to test him and he failed heavily!

if he is 32 now he would be 17 or even 16 when he sent the first letter to MOD. And what researcher would take in trade not is cash.

                        Never heard of this.

I think this guy is as it again

Excuse my late reply, but I was on a holiday.
So the cross was offered to you by Pawel Novak?
That name instantly rang a bell with me.
I have a good advice which a lot of people seem to overlook these days, but it really works: GOOGLE ! ! !
Whenever someone offers you something: google his name and if there is related mud: it will turn up.

When you break away the planks of militaria collecting you'll find a cockroach
called Pawel Novak amongst some others.
                          He is scamming it all.
Selling swords he doesn't own is his thing, selling treasures he has never found is another thing.

I have seen that letter he sent you before, I love it!

I don't understand why the guy never took a different alias, because this one is well known by know...

                          Regards and stay away,
                          Martin

A search on the forum will give you enough reading on Novak to last you for hours. That guys just doesn't give up

At least you'd think he'd sell something less obvious as a fake
