Hi Steve,
According to Horst Scheibert's book of DGiG winners, WILHELM SCHUCK, Oberfeldwebel was awarded the DKiG on 1.FEB.1943 not 23.DEC.1942.

According to my references:

Oberfeldwebel Wilhelm Schück
II./Kampf-Geschwader 100
Deutsches Kreuz in Gold 23.12.1942

Oberfeldwebel Wilhelm Schück, Flugzeugführer
Ehrenpokal 25.01.1942

The document bears a facsimile signature of Hermann Göring and an original signature of General der Flieger Gustav Kastner-Kirdorf DKiS.

Well I can only go on my experience and that is when I have checked a DKiG document it's always matched the date in the book. You might get a better answer over on the paper awards and photo section.

On page 384 in Scheibert's book in the DKiG LW section, Wilhelm Schuck Oberfeldwebel, Flugzeugfuhrer in einem Kampfgeschwader was awarded on 01.02.1943. I hope for Steve's sake its wrong.

Don't believe everything you read in books!

I have had this in the past where dates do not match, however I have many different refrences and others give the correct date...

With that said, where did Herr Scheibert get that date from?

I have numerous files on my laptop that I cross check but will check my books also when I get home this evening.

Hey Im happy, the dates correct in other references and an apparently original award document that would seem to nail it down pretty good.
