    Replica DkiS

Can someone please point me to a good replica DKiS for a uniform display. The ones I have seen are low quality. Thank you!

        Hello there,

You need to get yourself a Latvian made example. Do a forum search for the types.

Thanks, I will look into that. The one piece copies are terrible. I am looking for an original but would not put it on a uniform for long term display etc.

If you are a stickler for quality ... try and locate an S&L. Most believe these are Post war Made ... but they are really good quality and are quite a bit cheaper than the accepted Pre-May-45 makers.

Thanks I appreciate it. I wish I could get the original awards from the family. I only picked up part of the lot, named tunic- Dietrich Gundert, boots and his traveling trunk.

What would be your concern for long term exposure on a tunic display? I display an original DKiG on an M36 tunic.

Right now I just want a display copy until I encounter a nice named cased set one decade. In addition, I prefer puting the small expensive "goodies" in the bank. A collector friend with an incredible TR pistol and uniform collection had a fire 30 years ago and I will not tell you what was destroyed in it. I do not like to think about it or even remember the scene.

I can tell you firsthand, it's an awful experience....It's also one of the reasons that I recommend collector insurance for everyone. Perish the thought that it should happen to anyone here, but it's better to be covered.

                      Bob.

CIA - Collector's Insurance Agency. Anyone without it is taking a big chance.
