    L/54 Schinkle EK1? Opinions?

Came across this Schinkle EK1 which is marked L/54 and 800. At first pass the combination of an L number and a Schinkle does not seem to make sense. Any opinions or anyone seen something similar before.

I've never seen or heard of anything like this. Where did you come across it?

This is a common and recent fake that has been circulating crecently. Detlev had the same style on his site a few weeks ago. The key is in the odd 'sweep' of the lower East and West arms. They are much to exagurated as compared with the upper portions.

Are those pock marks on the back, or did it just get out of the shower?

          Hi Rob,

Run away from this one. All this example is missing is a nice SS inscription! The hinge/pin/catch is similar to the early style genuine EK pin assembly, but only similar! Definitely not the same and easily picked when you have your eye in. These crosses are more dangerous when unmarked but the hinge/pin/catch is still the best giveaway.

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

            Verrrry Interesting!

            Rob,

Never seen one like this before, but the style of the maker's mark looks almost correct for this maker---but! Of all the L/54 EK1's I've seen by Schauerte & Hohfield, they had the marks on the lower cross arm. Of course these were screwback pieces, so...

              Thanks

Thanks to all for the comments, I thought it was not right, a clear case of the fake being overdone. Had this been unmarked then I probably would have had a go.

PS it was raining at the time, always does in the UK!

              Rob.
