                  My opinion? Someone took the German WW2 description of this medal - which was "Spiegelei" or Fried Egg - way to literally....

                    I know that it isn't "mint"

                    But about the cross, what do you say?

                    I asked to my friend Francesco to post there to have some more opinion about it

                    thanks,gabriele

                        It looks to be an original to me. Nothing really different stands out when compared to other 134's. Other than the damage of course.
                        Any idea how the cross was damaged?

                          No,sorry but i have no idea about it.
                          The strange thing is that the damage is behind (the rear),and in the extreme front point (the center of the swastika is melt too)...

                          And about the white thing it came out...

                          ...i have two different opinion;

                          1- a product of the fusion (alluminium,maybe)
                          2- A sort of glue used from who have got for first the cross,to re-assemble it

                          I think it's the first case,but i accept suggest.
                          At the top of the cross, this white thing is hard, and look as an oxidation.
                          If i touch the white thing which come out from the hole of rivet or the space beetween two back pieces of the cross,it's "soft and elastic".
                          I also tried to take a little bit of this white pasta, and to burn it with a lighter. It doesn't melt or anything else.

                          Sorry to all for my english

                          Thanks,gabriele

                              This is very real. I sold one a few years ago that was much like it. Mine was melted around the edges also. The vet said it came from a panzer in Normandy. It made sense, as it was damaged from a explosion. yours looks the same.
