    Another New EK1 mm20

Two in a row. This one arrived today. A nice EK1 maker marked 20 for C.F. Zimmermann. The mark is on the back of the pin. This one's in overall good shape, with a few flaws on the paint but not bad. Some 20's I have seen have been in worse shape. This one looks great in hand.

Finally the mark, hidden on the back of the pin, common for this maker. This will be a good comparison for my early Deumers and my L/50.

        EK and stand

        Hi Steve,

Another fine addition to your rapidly growing collection. You must be close to having an EKI by each maker now.

I see you have it mounted on one of those acrylic stands. I've been thinking of getting some myself. How do you find them for fit with the various awards?

        Regards,
        Stu

That was quick! I'm far from all the makers, that's for sure. I've got 109 EKs right now both 1914s and 1939s. Still a long way to go. As for those stands, they're great, but they are all the same size. I find most medals fit on them. KVKs without swords are the only ones so far that don't but they still prop them up for photos. These are a must have item in my mind.

that sure is a nice zimmermann ek1 with a very nice core.
Too many of the zimmermann cores are rusty, any particular reason for this?
iron of course, but are there any other reason?

That's what I noticed too. I've seen them for sale many times but often in very poor condition. I'm glad I passed and was able to secure this decent one.

No there's a bit of bubbling going on there. I find digital pictures really bring out the worst. It really doesn't look too bad, but that is one of the trouble spots on it. Notive I never said mint, or anything like that.

It's got a real sweet patina to the frame and beading. It's so nice in hand.
