    new spangen

    Hi guys
    I'm very happy today
against all the best advice I'd tell anyone, I picked up this unmarked L/18 buntmetal 'veinless' EK2 spange online from crppy photos, for 65bucks. A gamble I couldn't help but take!
Here it is on the left, compared to another L/18 zinc 'veined' spange (middle) Like night and day

here's close-ups to compare details (not the best pics, but it's -10 today, and I was outside!)

and thanks to one of our brothers AUSGANG, I got hold of the denazified L/56 recently too.
Here it is next to it's daddy, an L/56 EK1 spange. Not an easy couple to find, in any condition!

here's few comparison shots of the L/56's
one of the most detailed spangen for sure

You should gamble more, I think you have a lucky hand!

I do believe the veinless bird.
So many other similarities are so easy to tell from your pics.

        And what a price!

        Congrats!

        Best regards,
        Martin

sorry everyone, I've been saying L/17, when of course these are L/18 (I've edited now)

yes, I believe the 'no-viened' ones are good and early
          regards

            and
on extreme close-up study tonight I feel confident saying that both the veined and no-viened spangen are from the same die.
Looks like it was cleaned up etc when the viens were added, but there are definate matching 'fingerprints' on both
nice for an egghead like me to finally know
            regards

                That's amazing jon,

A veinless tombak L/18...some guys have all the luck! I really like the ribbon it's on too. Congratulations!
