    New EK2

Just got this unmarked EK2 today so I thought I'd put a couple of pics on here to see what you think. I like it, looks good and it's got just that right amount of wear and patina that does it for me.
Anyone got any idea of a maker?

    First with no flash etc...

and a couple with the flash on...

    I'd say it looks quite similar to my 65 K & Q, but I can't be sure ... am I right folks ?

Thanks for correcting me Andi I saw the dull core and the date looked quit similar to my 65, how can you identify it as a 55. I'm always trying to learn these things ... ! I haven't got a 55 in my collection, could you point out what gives you the clues.

        A star as always Andi

The frame and the dates are unique.

Crosses by Hammer & Söhne often have often a different cruel cuttet frame too.

But the style og dates and beading its ever the same the same.

Here is a marker mark if you find a nice cross for your collection.

That is one of the nicer 55's I have seen, not too many frame flaws yet. Hammer had core variants as mine here. This frame die is nearly worn out...the beading is really bad...

Robert, i dont belive that your cross have another corvariant.

Its a good stamp and paintquality i mean.

Maybe you're correct, Andreas. I have (4) 55's. The one I posted must have had the core struck from a very worn core die, making the date and swasi look 'thicker'. My other (3) have much 'finer' and well-defined dates and swasi like the one Time Bandit posted.

You are probably correct, Andreas. Thank you. Now I'm looking closer.

Greetings Time Bandit! She is a Beauty! This cross could be a twin to the one I just purchased, It came with a Hammer and Son bag, They look like twins almost!
I wonder if the core in yours rattles as does mine?

Wow! They WERE frosted when first issued. This is the nicest 55 I've seen!

it's well preserved, but the frosting seems to be done in a hurry lol
its all there but its not a very good job

An unmarked 55 eh, I'd of never sussed it I don't think as I don't have any pics of a 55...well until now that is! Thanks very much for ID'ing it - at the end of the day it didn't really matter if I knew or not but I figure it's always nicer to know?

I guess I did okay with it as I really like the look of the cross - just got the right ageing about it for me and looks even better in the hand than in the pics.

Once again thanks for the comments etc.
