        and here is a comparison of this 24 which has a wide frame with a normal sized cross (on the right). All I need now is a ribbon for the 24 and that is on its way to me.

          Nice! I've always liked the 24 EKs because of the wide frame, and because I used to live in Hanau!

              Check the small ribbon ring for the "acorn" mark often found on these "24" EKs.

                    george are these marks on the small ring perculiar to 24s or do other EK2s have them i have looked at my other 2 unmarked EKs and cant see any

                          '24' Ekii

                          That's great. I just got a '24' myself. Being new to EK's, the wide edge and the very matt black centrepiece finish made me wonder if it was a fake. The number on mine looks very similar indeed, and is also missing part of the numeral shape. In fact, I thought it read '74' at first.

                          Cool to see another one in such detail here.

                          Are all the 24s pretty sure to be wartime crosses, or have there been examples known to be struck after the war as well?

                            I've never heard of a "24" EK 2 that was struck post-war.
