EK2 spange & box

Hi Guys.
Got these today. Have done some research and I am sure I am ok with them. I would say that the spange is not original to the box as the spange has definately been mounted and worn in the past, but this is how it came.
What do you guys think ? And whats the going rate for a set like this (or separate ??

Well, pherhaps they kept the box.

Can't comment on the case because I don't know much about them, but the clasp is a nice original Deumer.

Hi Rich,

The box appears to be a generic LDO style box. I've seen mini mothers crosses in these types of boxes. Looks to be original to me but you could always post it in the cases and packets forum to get more expert opinions.

The box is genuine as it also the more square sorts that is encountered certainly with the MK and indeed the black wound badge too.

As for other items being sold in these, it's possible this form was used for the retail sale of spangen.......it afterall just a little box.

The rectangular shaped ones have been encountered with spangen in also and of course the incipient colour and form of LDO boxes for these are the pale blue sorts, sleeve and lid sorts.

As to these being a pair..........gut feeling tells me a big no !

I haven't studied 1st class spangen but I can tell you that this one feels lighter than a vet bring back that I have.

Steve, I believe that box is commonly found with Mini Mother's Crosses.

I believe that the box steve has shown is larger that the one I have shown at the begining of the post. My box (not the lid) measures 43x43mm. A first class spange would only just fit in it and not show the extra space around if that steves does.
What would you pay on estand for a mint box like mine ?? And what would you pay for the spange with the 2 missing prongs ??
I am not selling but want to compare with what I paid. I think I did ok!

i agree, looks like the spange might be original to the box, as they ran out of boxes and used whatever they had in he right size to hand. both look original imo, just a pity its lost its prongs and some of the frosting.
