          it is interesting that, although an EKII has been used in the award ceremony, they have still used a RK ribbon.

            Hi Harry,

            I don't see any KC ribbon in the photos placed in this thread or the one Allan put a link to? I only see EKII ribbon used. Although they aren't the normal (30cm lenght) ribbon, they are still EKII ribbon. Maybe the had a roll at the front and used those for this occasion?

              look at mine EKII. I bought this as normal EK, but now I think that can be the same like in picture. This EK is 44mm core.

                    I did hear that ek11's were some times privatly purchased and worn as rk's and the rk was sent home for safe keeping

                      I spoke to U-boat commander RKT Alfred Eick (U-510). He wore his converted EKII almost untill the end of the war. At the day he got his KC, he borrowed one for 1 day from another KC holder. They just did not have any KC's at the scene!
