Edgar..dont feel bad my first thought in seeing the cross was Schickle as well because of the flat ring.Nothing wrong with no knowing everything.

....the Cross has been played with by someone who knows (or thinks he/she knows a bit) and is obvious in this area!

The rest of the Cross is aged, toned BUT this area is taken down to suggest a flat ring....emory cloth comes to mind
