    EK2 with waffling all over?

Going through my EK2s, I cam across this one, here, the blacking is of a dull type and the dates are very detailed. What caught my attention was the waffling all over the beading (hope you know what I mean), almost seems like there's a beading underneath the beading - a production failure?
    Any opinions welcome...

              A '55' perhaps?

                  ...

                  It's a distinctive feature of maker 55.

Thanks for the assistance, guys, I was reading this thread here for the last 15 minutes, comparing mine with the ones posted there
http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=hammer+ek2 - that waffling doesn't always seem to be the same/in the same place... I'm curious what caused it... more reading...
                    Thanks a lot

The double beading appears to be fairly random in where it appears and to what degree. It would be interesting to see if there are two '55' EKs that are identical in terms of the beading.

I have seen a 55 or 2 that really looked like this beading. My 55 have non of these...double beads? I'm not sure what to call em.

Did J.E. Hammer & Söhne use different frames during WW2 ? or something like that

My EK II by 55 has the same features.

I think the reason is the wastage of the equipment (frame tool).
Therefore must have the "first" generation of these crosses good frames and the "late" generation these distinctive features.
