have u now aquired the groupimg albert?
I am very new to collecting and i wondered why someone would sell a set like this?Unless if he needed the money or getting funds for a stepping stone to another buy.
I have noticed that a lot of these get handed around from dealer to collector or collector to dealer.There must be loads of collecters out there that are sick they sold thier stuff years ago.

Yes, beautiful group indeed!

Only thing that would worry me is, in case the group does not come directly from the family, whether the medals really came from the same man.

Outstanding group from a combat soldier . One interesting part is the history of his ranks and I think it's odd to see a soldier serving with a lower rank at two occasions. He held the rank of "Gefreiter" in 1940, then in 1941 he served as a common "Schütze". 6 months later he was promoted three steps to "Unterofficier" and another two steps to "Wachtmeister" another four months later. Five months later he was once again degraded back to "Unterofficier".

As an interesting side note I can add that according to the owner of Fabritius' Soldbuch, who is a member here, there is no entry of the promotion to Lt. in the SB! He found out that Fabritius was promoted to an officer only now thru this very thread:

Has nothing to do with the photo. He recognized Fabritius despite the fact that I originaly had to cover up the name and face and contacted me via pm. We then exchanged a bit of info. But in post 46 it is also mentioned....

I want to bring this group up since Albert is selling it right now.

But the main reason is this: here we have a genuine untouched group with a Juncker Lazy 2 awarded in February of 1945. I know of another genuine group awarded in April 1945 with also Juncker Lazy 2.

This goes absolutely confirm with the pieces found in Schloss Klessheim (Lazy 2) and this group is therefore also important in judging other groups of this late war period which do not have a Juncker ...

What a beauty this group is! I hope it stays together!

No identifiable contemporary war time photographic evidence. Cross could be postwar swap. By your own standards weak provenance at best...................Jimmy

Not quite!

If you have all the (circumstantial) evidence of:

- Juncker Lazy 2 being the last model from Juncker
- Juncker Lazy 2 being found in other (private aquired) groups
- Juncker Lazy 2 found in Schloss Klessheim in quantities
- PKZ remains were clearly in Klessheim

then it fits the bill. No explanations needed. Same with the oaks and swords - by the way!

The other examples are a lot more complicated:

- no procen recipient
- no crosses of that type in Klessheim
- every often posthumous or replacement...
- no proven recipient

And yes: I'm not saying that this is definitive proof! But for me it is an unbroken chain of singular proven evidence. And that is sometimes more than one can ask.
