    Unknown EKI

    Gentlemen,

I have recently acquired this EKI and I wish to ask 2 questions about it.
I know nothing about these and will appreciate all of the info that I can get.
First, is it an early or late EKI ?
Second, the center core is non-magnetic, what does it means ?

    Thank you all !

I believe it's an early W&L. Early cores were oftentimes non-magnetic non-ferrous metal. Early W&L's had round wire catches rather than their later war flat wire catches and magnetic cores....

              Thank you Robert !

I was reading some of the comments made on the EK forum, and it says that W&L EK's had a die flaw on the 12 o'clock arm.
I don't really see any flaws on mine, though I don't really know what to look for.

Obviously the earliest crosses would be free from flaws, theoretically. The more worn the dies, the more the flaws.

IMO a early Steinhauer & Lück.

                      regards

                        Andreas,

I don't remember ever seeing an early S&L. Can you show us one?

                              Hello Robert,

                              you see a early S&L.

Look at the frame an core (HK and date).
Early brass pices have this wire catch and slim pin.

                              regards
                              Andreas
