    "It would be a great idea to get all different EK makers Post's on this forum with images and details to every type don't you agree?As I am collecting as many EK1's with all makers as I can find I would really welcome a clean data-base for reference."

    We are working on that very project right now! If you would like to help, please send good pics of your maker-marked EKs (any class, duplicates also welcome) to Seba at info@wehrmacht-awards.com. (Shoot them with a black background, please! )

      Yepp Deejay the second one you show is also a Souval.
      Dont focus on pin´s, i did learn that from George!. Many makers
      did use diff pins, hinge, catch, during the period. Some did use 3 diff types off pin setups like B/H Mayer and some others. Well i can see one more in this Souvals they sems to miss the regular
      rim frosting, cant see any on the pics shown. And mine dont have any, non off them. Maybe they all late war pices?. I have seen about 5 more last days non have frosting!. But they all have the Souval rim and date "dipping 3".

        OK....I'll jump in this one. I am just trying to learn and educate myself here. PLEASE, no offense here, I'm just in doubt so I'll ask a question.


        I have a problem with Meriksson's late war Souval EK. The swaz seems too fat....thick....poorly defined....whatever you want to say, it just doesn't look period to me. Look at the swaz on other pieces and one can see they are not the same cut. I know I could be totally wrong here and that's why I'm asking.....Is the swastika right on Merikssons souval late war piece? Again, I just don't know . . . . .but to me it looks post war and I would have passed on it for my collection.

        Am I out in space or does someone else see my observation, is this swaz correct?

          Hi there! well it looks more fat than it is, dont know if its the paint jobb. But it match 100 to both screwbacks shown here and others ive lookt at. And it came in its orginal case markt 2597 and D&B in oval, also a pencil mark 17 on bottom. I also got the orginal cardbore outer cartong for it but that´s not markt!. But i can see the picture diff´s. Forgot case is also as close to mint you
          can get, outercard bore carton is worse a bit broken!. Any idea if
          scoots is a good fixer to hold it in one pice?. Inside use!.

            Sorry I have to say it but yesterday someone with a good reputation said he does not like this cross. Why? I did'nt ask but somehow I agreed with him. The pin maybe? I am curious of your responses.

                Obvious remark but all the corresponding went through email concerning more things that have questions to be asked. For now I´m waiting for the person in question to send me some items back. I will ask him when the time is right and of coarse let you know of his meaning on the cross.

                  That pin type is used by other makers also, so i cant see any wrong whit
                  it. This one you show here have no silver fuss on it, polish?. I can tell
                  you there is a differance in frames on the first needel pin Souval "after war made" But the iron cores match. There is also a diff in silver finish
                  on them, i think the pic´s shows that.

                    Hi,

                    well the answer he wrote was "it does'nt seem to be that old" and thats it. An answer which to me is like saying 'it was made last year'.......

                    I have used a loop to examine it closer and besides it was resprayed a trace of frosting (and polish) kan be seen, see the picture. Also the needle is lightly bent upwards at the end as should be.

                    Maybe he's wrong about it. Lets see what others have to say about it in the coming time.

                      Did Souval use "L/58" inside a small box just below the catch on war time made pieces?

                          Well, I've seen "L/58" in a box on what I believe is a wartime piece, but the mark wasn't under the catch and it wasn't on an EK.

                            I asked ´cause i saw an ek1 with that mark at a dealer´s site last friday and was curious to know if it was a war-time piece.
