Please forgive my butting in here. Douglas, this is the frame (Dave's 2nd cross) you identified months ago as being a F. Zimmermann rework. I originally sent one example back thinking it was a copy, later buying another after you gave it a on being reworked. The core has always intrigued me, not knowing who made it. Now, maybe with your help we'll get to the bottom of it.

BTW Dave, nice, very nice examples!

I agree. I just can't get enough of them. I just sent one back; it was dip-cleaned. It looked like a chrome bumper. But, still, it was an original unmarked F. Zimmermann. Here's some more of my F. Zimm's...

the zimmermanns with the reworked frame, are they always unmarked? or is it just a coincidence ?

Is that your 5th Fritz Z?

So far all I've seen are unmarked reworked crosses, yes.

This is my 4th keeper, 2 went back.

And I finally found a nice F. Zimm 1st class. The pins are polished like chrome. Marked in the middle of the pin...
