Hello, This is a L/59 Alois Rettenmaier maker. I dont know about the mark below the threaded hole. Is this a common mark for this maker?? I just got this EK1 in the mail today from a well known Militaria site. Bought it a few days ago.


Is it real. Please help.

Some L/59s have two marks on the back, the L/59 and then another mark that (I assume) identified the jeweler that made that particular cross. Mine has a square shaped mark. Looks like yours has a triangle. The screw looks newer than the main cross; is there anything stamped on the screw?

If the separate mark besides the L/59 is a jeweler's mark, then what would more than one such mark on one cross signify?

Hello, AUSGANG, no marks on the screw, the under side of screw is cleaner than the rest of cross, but top side looks like the rest of the cross,aged nice. looks like it has been togeather for a long time.

Hey Tiger 1, I was just making an assumption about the extra markings on the L/59; I guess I shouldn't be disseminating unverified information, sorry Anyway, I've never read anything anywhere about what they mean. I do know that on some pottery and jewelry the individual craftsperson was allowed to indicate that it was their work. Maybe one of the heavyweights out there can let us in on the secret.

Hello, I saw this thread also, but no one has seen a triangle mark like the one I have??? It is a upside down triangle. If that makes scenes.

I've never heard of or seen one with a triangle. Start a new thread with good photos of the cross and in the header write that its a L/59 with a triangle mark. I would be very interesed to find out what these marks mean, and a triangle in particular... Great cross
