from what I can see at those pictures, I do not like it.
The hardware looks like it is off center regarding the spot where it is suppose to be soldered.
And looking at the back side of the spange, the left side looks too rough.
Also the beak looks really weird, but that could be due to the finishing og the Spange!
From those pictures, it does not have the quality that I would expect from a period spange.

But I would like some better pictures.

That is just my 2 cents.

        Hi
interesting that you show this again, as I just got one myself this week, as I wanted a closer look...
I found a match to an L/16 marked buntmetal one in the past, which IMO is period, and is the only one I've ever seen with a mm, so I believe these are S+L too.
        but
        pre or post war?

and it's a bit spooky that I've seen about 10 on dealer's sites of late. Although that could be that I'm zeroing in on them. All the ones I've seen lately are zinc, and of differing degrees of finish, from worn plating, silvery wash, down to bare zinc. Most with bodged on hardware. If they were S+L EK1s, I'm sure everyone would shout post war.
Mine has off center hardware too
and interestingly has the same straight 'scratch' down the pin
        hmmmmmm
        regards
        jon

          Hello

Not really sure about this one. Overall I personally don't like it - but of course that neither makes it from the war period nor the post war period. To me it doesn't look like others which, based on WW2 S&L catalogues, are deemed to be S&L pieces, so I wouldn't class this as an S&L.

The off centre hardware is of less of a concern than the overall quality of it, or rather lack of. Sorry Dion, but I don't like it.

          Regards
          David

can you show the pics in the S&L catalogue please
or any of the ones deemed to be S&L
            thanks

                Hello Jon

I was just looking for this thread. Looks like you beat me to it.

The ones shown in that thread I'd accept as S&L, and I also quite them.

                Regards
                David

IMHO the spange at the top, is the same, apart from damage to the beak
                  just my 2c

The beak is what really throws me a bit, it doesnt seem to be damage. I will foto it up a bit more tommorrow when the light is back. I just hold onto this one always, just waiting and watching
