I'm not sure, but Ben and Jon wanted a better look so I'm curious to see what they say. Hopefully these new pictures remove the doubt one way or the other.

Hi again
I had a Nikon coolpix a few years ago, it broke, about 2days out of warrantee!
but re: the spange, I thought we could tell one way or another with better pics, but I myself can't. It could be good, with replaced pins, or it could be a cast copy IMO. Does it bend easy? looks a bit 'leady'...
sorry for no easy quick answer
regards
jon

Hello again,
Can you explain to me the pitting on the reverse near the "L/11" mark?

Pepgnat, I am unsure whether you meant in your opening post that you now own these examples, or are considering buying them? Likely they are yours but if they are not yet, you might consider picking up the spange on the assumption that it started life as the genuine article, as long as the seller is not asking a fortune for it. If that is an option I can't really think of how much I would pay for it myself but others might have a better idea and offer their estimations of it's worth. Otherwise, I would just forget about the thing and save up for a proven example. They are out there.Last edited by Will Brown; 11-19-2007, 07:48 AM.

Darrell,
Glad we're on the same page now; the pitting was what did it for me.
@ Will - I believe he owns this one as he said it did not bend easy.

Yes I did purchase this one as part of an estate sale. I didn't pay too much for it so it has almost been worth it for the education. There are slight lines along the top Darrell (and the top only). Can someone post what the edges of their real ones look like? I always see photos of the front and back but not the edges. I'll get one more pic of the top later today so you can see those lines on the top.
