    DKiG

Any thoughts to the maker or time period produced. The same hardware recently surfaced on a legion condor tank badge. best wishes,

Postwar repro. It has the typical '57ish style reverse hardware, but they were not meant for wartime versions.

              Hello

The whole item looks like a 57 DK, even down to the silver coloured central disc under the swastika. I'd guess someone has taken a legitamate 57 DK, removed the EK and stuck a swastika one instead. Either way, not a wartime made piece.

              Regards
              David

                Hello

Having looked at this piece further, and after comparing it to a couple of 57 DKiGs I have, I'm going to go out a limb here and say that this started out as an early, (mid 1960's ?), S&L made 57 DKiG. I'm basing this on the stlye of the hinge and pin, the rivets and the wreath.

                Here's one to compare against.

                Regards
                David

I think David is right on this. I quickly reviewed all the old threads (search function, what a concept! ) and the one posted by Jeff does look to be a post war S&L.

......And if you wanted to look at 57 DKs all you needed was this pinned thread from the 57 Awards section:

Yes, postwar and my guess is Steinhauer & Lück. I have never cared much for the different makers, but that pin...

Thanks guys! I had also thought it was an S&L but the searches I did only produced the coke bottle pin variety with catch on a round catchplate. Thank you for the clarification. I guess this is more evidence of the postwar production of awards by S&L with the swastika. best wishes,
