    EK1 old fake

This Iron Cross first class is obviously a fake one because it doesn't consist out of 3 pieces (it's massive). But I think it's interesting because it looks old. It has no maker mark, but it has a pin I saw once on a EK1 1914.
Can someone tell me more about this old cross?

If I got it I would say it is a good one...

it looks to me as original 3 piece example...

The shape of a NINE reminds me of a GODET pieces

      Anyone else?

As far as I am into this hobby (almost 3 years) I would not call this piece a 'fake' so easily...

the hinge however does not look good

Interesting piece and I would say - if fake - a worthy discussion subject

        I agree,
I think this could be a rare one-piece example

Isn't this the same cross as we have seen a few months back with an L/15 mm???

I don't like it, to be honest, and I do think it is a fake.

          best regards,
          Ben

I do remember seeing it before, but I don't remember a mm.
and I thought it was deemed good?
            regards

It is certainly a one piece cross, the fine texturing on the center area was intended to help adhere the paint. One piece EKs with this texturing are known to have been made during and before the 3rd Reich period. I do not know if this cross is original or not.

The hinge resembles a Godet WW1 Cross, but the Pin shape is (a little) off compared to Godets IMO - also, the obverse is nowhere near a Godet...
My personal experience with original one piece crosses is zero, so I'm of no help there...
                If it's a good one,... I don't know..

I didn't know one piece originals existed? It looks like this cross has been in the ground for a while. The pin is a bit rusty and one of the four sides is a bit bent.
It's funny that the cross is causing different opinions.
Unfortunately whe can't view the images on the German forum, because you have to log in.
