    Knights Cross opinions please

    Hi All

Once again can I ask for your opinion on this Knights Cross, the dimensions are 48mm or 47mm. Sorry these are the only pics I have but one shows the weight. Is it original or a very good copy.

    Thanks in advance
    Mal

I do not feel strongly either way because I have never even held a RK

Could you please explain why it is a fake for learning purposes? Is the "1939" too close to the bottom of the cross?

A combination of frustration.....'do your own homework' and shameless plug for a great work....www.ironcross1939.com

Come on! It gets OLD after a while! Spend a half hour doing research and discover the information (here) at a key stroke!

          Hi Rylan,

there were only a few (7 most likely) licensed manufacureres of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross. Each of thoses manufacturers has unmistaken characteristica.

This cross is not one of the seven - so it should be very suspect - to say the least.

In this case the suspicion is also multiplied by the fact that this type comes with all kinds of manufactureres markings: 20, 2, L/12, 4,...That is a big no-no!

But especually the ring sits very high and the curvature of the arms is too much. The space for the swastika is very restricted. If you would put a good one next to it you would see immidiately what I mean.

It is a lot easier to learn the characteristika of the "7" then to learn the fakes, by the way.

This really is a known one and I call it "The new Rounder fake" in my book.

          Dietrich

                Hi fokes!

Just about the weight, its not right I think, because it should be between 28 - 32 gramms.

                All the best ;

                Les.

                      Many thanks All

Joining WA has been the best decision I have made since I started collecting, It has saved me quite a bit on the rubbish that's out there. I really do appreciate all the help as a beginner.
Luckily enough I did not buy this cross although I would like an original some day, but I am sorry for the chap that did buy it on eBay for £300.00, it's a lot to lose on a bad copy.

                      Regards

In addition, it has round corners, the 1939 doesn't look right, and the swastika looks a bit too skinny on the arms.
