Two shiny ones in today's mail.....

    Hi,
I just received these today, from a seller on the e-stand. Both have no MM.....I'm fairly sure about the crosses, but not the ribbons. The ribbons don't glow, but they also don't have that 60+ year old smell... Maybe it's just me, but I'd appreciate all opinions and comments on the whole bunch...

    Thanks,
    Bob.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.....

    Very nice Bob.

The first one is attributed to W&L

      Bob,
I wouldn't worry about the ribbons not smelling sixty years old. They look fine to me. As for the crosses, their both sweet looking examples.

OK, that does it, I hate you back!

Where are you finding these ugly crosses? And the ribbons, I can't smell a thing.

          Thanks, Darrell and Chet.....

The seller attributed the first to W&L and the second to Gustav Brehmer, but it's always nice to get a second (and third) opinion...

Thanks, Chet, for the reassurance on the ribbons.

I have member schönbeck to thank for these.

          Thanks to all.

          Bob.

            Robert,
I'll tell you what, if you'll help me find ANY screwback in the same shape that YOU like 'em in, but at the price that I like 'em at, I'll send you a "Robert Haters' Club" badge....

            Cheers,
Bob. (Robert, only to my mom...)

                  Hi Bob,

Glad to see your are reassembling your collection. These 2 minty crosses are definite keepers.

As for the ribbons, they appear to be good as well. In the past one could never find extra ribbon, especially "new" stock ribbon that had never been issued.

A few years ago, at the SOS/MAX I noticed a lot of dealers selling these in stacks still in the original paper wrap or with string. My guess was/is that a huge stock of these unissued ribbons was found and made its way to the market. These are the types of ribbons I like with my minty EK2s.

P.S. Shoot me a PM on what you are looking for.

I used to buy period ribbons from Detlev years ago that were tied in stacks of 12-15 ribbons. They were folded twice, like you see them in the EKII presentation packets. Inbetween the ribbons were insect-repelling herb leaves. Black rubber bands held these stacks together. They were really interesting.

                      I like ribbons...
