Zimmermann '20' EK1

    Zimmermann '20' EK1

    continuing with some camera work... The next subject being this unworn Zimmermann marked '20' in the usual position - underside of the pin.

    Hard to find this marker with unblemished cores as we know for some reason the cores tended to rust easily.

    The reverse shows a beautifully polished pin which only requires a wipe from a soft cloth to renew the burnishing.

    Am I safe in saying this is an unworn, mint example?

            Isn't the burnishing beautiful on the back of the pin? I wonder if this is a dark patina on the pin because of the polishing/burnishing down to the base metal, and ageing over time? I've often wondered. You may have some opposition as to the use of the word 'mint', as some see mint as exactly as it was the day it was manufactured. I too have pieces that came out of their original packet or case, that were never worn, yet exhibit patina. I personally call them 'unworn' in excellent condition, no rust, etc...

            At any rate, it is beautiful, and my favorite maker of the EK.
