Carl Wild '107' EKI, for review

    Hello everyone,

A very good friend led me to this nice Carl Wild EKI. Does it appear to be a true textbook example, I ask the many well-versed members of this forum? I know this maker's EK is copied quite heavily. Please feel free to express your opinions...

And, I thank you for looking.

    Robert,

I think you are safe with this CW cross.

    Better get your gloves out!

      Thank you William,

I'd searched the archives for more '107's before buying it, and I felt pretty safe, but I needed a confirmation from others before being 100% certain. There are just too many pieces anymore that come so close to the real.

      Thank you again

        Congrats Robert!!
Very nice ek, this is the best preserved 107 I have seen so far.
The paint on these crosses is really low-quality, the rust pretty easily...

        Best regards,
        Ben

          Thanks Ben

Yes, I saw the examples in the archives. Carl Wild must have missed some step in the process to have his finish application fail so terribly. I really don't know anthing about how a crosses's core is prepared before applying the coating of paint, but I would think it must be heated first to sweat out the misture, or you'll have moisture trapped within the core material, causing oxidation...and rust down the road.

There are nice examples are out there, but they do seem few and far between.

Jan Arne has perhaps the best example I've ever seen, it's near mint !

Mine on the other hand is nice, but showing the CW traits appearing through in the odd place !!

My goodness, what a beauty, Marcus! Very nice set! Now I know the case I need to find for mine.

                  Hi!

Both Crosses are real beautys. As Ben said normally they are in bad condition because of the low quality of the Paint and silver-plating.
