                Rick,

Is the EKI a 1-piece construction?

It does not look like those of which I am comfortable.

                      hi
i'm sure we've seen this discussed here before, same outcome i'm afraid: repro.
                      regards

Nice jon. Rat with flowers. A new 'smiles icon'? Let me guess..."Sorry, but no cigar"?

I think "rat" is a bit harsh; perhaps it's a cute field mouse.

Okay, I stand beaten & flogged on this apparently.

Is it the one piece cross that toasts it or something else? The spange? What can you guys tell me without divulging state secrets that might bring down western civilization...? Help me learn something from this.

                          Thanx, Rick

Rick, while there were combos made during the war-period, these are oftentimes hard to descern originality because fakers 'mated' them together for obvious reasons, postwar. And they used original pieces to start with, making it even tougher. The criteria needed to declare originality is something I am still eagerly learning. Your combo, on the other hand, is not made from original components, and is not an object of study. These combos are widely faked. If you will, here's a piece that I have in my files that most collectors feel 'comfortable' with. It's an 'L/18' B.H. Mayer. There are others in the archives if you want to do a search in the crosse's forum under the heading 'EKI combo'. My running file may hold pieces that are not widely accepted as pre-45 mated pieces, but are made from original components. So I use them for the study.

the spange is quite a common repro, we see it in all it's heinous forms: screwback, pinback, combo, marked all different makers, and unmarked.
                              Do a search for: 'raptor'
                              regards
