I don't know if we're ever going to solve all of the mysteries surrounding "L/12" marked EKs and Spangen. Are the "different" version fakes, or are they pieces manufactured by the company after the famous 1944 factory bombing made the original dies unusable? We may never know....
(Is there any similar confusion with other Juncker manufactured awards, like war badges?)

I would not think that Juncker, after loosing more 'money-making' dies, would have decided to to produce a new die for something with such a low possibility of selling high number in late 44 as the Spange clearly is.

Maybe, but for all Juncker knew there might have been a legitimate (i.e., awardee) demand for Spangen for decades after 1944, just like there was a profitable demand for 1870 EKs into the '20s.

So why are the Spanges in question made from a high quality white metal and not zinc?

They made a new die for the Flak after the factory was bombed...

I always thought this style spange, whether Junker or not, with two long prongs bent up to make it look like four prongs, was fake also ...Cheers...Jeff

While we're on the subject, I'd be interested in all the different varieties that Detlev endorses as original L/12's, starting with the type 2's....

While I'm not very wild with the one-piece prongs on the reverse of the above spange, do we dismiss it as another fake, or discuss it at length?
