    Zimmermann EK1's

Can some Zimmermann EK1's be found both that are flat and some that are vaulted? If so, is it an indication of when they were manufactured (late war, early war, etc.). Please join the discussion if you know more.

For some reason, which I can't figure out, vaulting was prohibited early on during the second World War. I mean who was it hurting? If it was banned it means it was occurring, so a vaulted piece could be an early piece. Is it unmarked, which indicates early or is it marked with an LDO number, which is later war manufactured. Either way, hand vaulting did occur after the piece was awarded, so it could be hard to tell which it is if it was done well. I have at least one 1939 EK1 that has what appears to be an attempt to hand vault with the two side arms slightly vaulted. In general, 39 EKs are less likely to be vaulted than Imperial versions.
