Okay, I know I paid too much but I had to have it (sound familiar?). Here we have a nice relic condition vaulted EK1 with an 800 hallmark and MM 58. Opinions other than it looks like s•*t? Thanks, Ausgang

Compare with this.
Hello,
I too feel that you should try to get your money back. Here are 4 pictures of an authentic L/58 Souval screw back EKI. Have a look at the features. Yours does not have the Souval frame outer arm corner extended beading nor well rounded inner corners. The 3 is not dipped as it should be. I can't tell if it has the appropriate 12 o'clock arm beading flaw or not. I do notice the anti-rotation pin is set very low on the reverse and the mm on the screw plate looks to be poorly struck. This all leads me to think it's not authentic. I don't mean to overkill with this reply but wanted you to know these points. Senior collectors have advised me to watch for them so I pass them on as a learning experience. There is also a great article on Souval EK, written by Peter Wiking, pinned to the top of this forum.
Regards,

Yes, absolutely! What's dumb is how even with the information I had from this website I still went for it. I see now that even relic EKs have to be scrutinized and if I'm going to collect them, I have to approch them as FAKES that need to be proven REAL, not the other way round! Cheers, Ausgang
