    EK1 opinions please

    Hello everyone

I came across what looks like an early ek1, but I'm not sure about the pin setup. Can I have your opinions please.

I'm not really into the EK1s but I think it might be a Godet?

        I think it's a fake.
The whole hinge and pin system is wrong. The design of the front side is untypical.
Most of early EK I are Schinkeltypes and your EK I has another form.

Thanks Adrian. Yes the pin looks like that of a godet, but not with the top bottom plate.

Thanks Grueni, exactly what I think. Never saw this sort of pin setup, and the early ones I saw are exactly as the ones you posted.

Godet was my first impression, like I said, not really into the EK1s or the different types of hinge/pin/catch setups but I'm here to learn so will enjoy this thread.

It looks like it is. Now for my next question. Are there copper core fakes?

                      Somehow I like the cross.
The plate underneat the hinge is odd, but could it be a repair because the original hinge came of??

                      Regards,
                      Ben

uh - Godet? you certainly can't compare the reverse of the one in question with this one, but here's front and back of a "regular" godet...
The date looks different (given the same cores have been used) and the paint job is pretty sloppy IMO, also the hinge bluing due to heat treatment seems unusual....
how many different hardware setups did Godet come out with for their 1939ers?

The cross does not need to be from a known maker of iron crosses. Do we have all makers listed? To your question Henri. I associate copper more with originals than fakes.
