Has anybody made tests on the cases that these awards come in? Surely after 60+ years there would be some kind of deterioration of the materials used and some kind of wear to the outside of the case!
    Just a honest question

          K&Q's

I'll add my comments for what they are worth....

I too spent many years in the 1970's looking for a KC...it took me 4 years to get my first one. How things have changed.

(Took me another 18 months to find my first DKiG)

I also collect antique porcelain....particularly Royal Worcester pieces by John Stinton (the elder)....practically impossible to find 25 years ago, now they are several pieces on e-bay (for goodness sake) each year !

What's changed then ?.....no secret there, the internet !

There is a minute progression of die characteristics of K&Q crosses.

No K&Q's at Castle K ?....maybe not, but I have had two cased RK to KVK (without swords) in mint condition from a liberated Naval stores in Bremerhaven in 1945 (would you believe)...what were they doing there one asks ?...there is more to these issues than we can imagine after a period of 62 years. There is lots of photographic evidence of K&Q's being worn, so doesnt their lack of being in castle K tell us something ?.(think about it).

Dies used after 1945 ?.....benchmark a 1945 awarded K&Q and everything else with less distinct flaws is pre 1945. (Simple aint it)

          Good collecting all !

As I am a little bit interested in Knight´s Crosses, I take this thread to the top, by asking: any new stories to share?

Any info of the '''suposed sale'' of the dies at the K&Q factory in the 1980s ?
