    What are these things?

    They look like brass molds for the iron part of the iron cross...but, I didn't think a thin piece of brass would hold molten iron while cooling. Any ideas?

          I would think they are the cores used in EK1s. No need for any detail on the back as it would be hidden behind the plain backside of the cross.

            I thought that these were unfinished crosses, I don't know where I saw this photo before, but I think that is what it said the article (but I don't really know)
