The Austrian tri fold ribbon may be a reproduction although the cross may be good. The ribbon may have been added to boost value. All Shinkle crosses are unmarked. The pin on the unknown EK1 spange looks alot like a Meybauer. The 65 looks like a real nice example.

Schinkle and '65' EKII are superb.

Can't really comment on the rest really but would say the EK1 spange looks good too.

      Regards...

Your Schinkel EK II is from Deumer.
I have a 1914 EK II with maker's mark L/11 and it has the same distinctive frame.
Deumer EK II's (1914 and 1939 Schinkel versions) give it with magnetic and non-magnetic core.

Thanks for the info Grueni, Its certainly a pleasant surprise to find its a Deumer.

Thats what I love about the forum, all the extra little tidbits of information. This one does have a magnetic core.

              Hi ALan,

This is a thread I started a couple of years ago and maybe of interest today:

                  Alan,

Both of your EKI spanges look sound. The beak on your Deumer is a little strange, maybe just the lighting. There is an English version out of the unknown maker spange, which is much thicker than the original. The obverse and reverse of these fakes are very convincing, as seen in Gordon Williamson's book on the 1939 Iron Cross. Both of your badges look great from what I can see of them. I'll post some photos here for you to compare...

The fakes are nearly twice as thick as this...
