I got a superb brass core EK1 on Ebay for 30 bucks. Why? Because it's encased in a lucite paperweight, that's why! So, whoever did this removed the pin from the back, giving us a look at how the hinge and clasp are attached. Interesting enough, but my question is if the cores used for EK1s are the same as the ones used for EK2s. Seems that the raised numbers of the date 1813 would interfere with the sandwiching of the frames and core. Whats the dealio? Did they manufacrure separate cores for EK1s???
