    It's not unusual.
But for an accurately answer I need better and more pictures (complete EK).

Agree with grueni on this one..

Need better pics to say if the EK is original, but not unusual that the core is loose!

It looks like a good original cross. I wouldn't try to repair the frame to stop the core from moving, best to leave it as is or you run the risk of damaging and completely ruining the cross.

Nice EK II, it's not to find very often.

But the best off EK II's with maker's mark 40 are the ORANGE packets.

The cross is original. Leave it as it is.

I had a WW I 2nd class that came apart on one arm and I found out the hard way that these are put together with very soft lead/tin based solder. When I heated it the entire frame came apart. It took a long time to get it back right. The heat has to be low and even and the cross held together while heated....and....if the solder is no good anymore you have to add smoe and run the risk of solder beading on the outside of the frame.

Best left for proffesional (jewler) or to do or as the others said and leave it alone.

I do not think I will try repair oneagain.

I agree with Peter. Leave the cross, no need to repair it IMO :-)
