    Two EK2s

    Here's my first real posting. Please let me know if I made any errors in posting the images.

    I bought both of these EK2s several months apart about three years ago. The first one I was told was a vet bring-back, and the fellow who owned it apparently tried to cover the weathering on the core using a black marker. It will be a little challenging to clean up, but I left it somewhat there (visible especially on the reverse, on the 1813). The ribbon is in good condition and appears to be original. Here are the pictures;

    The condition of the second EK2 isn't as good as the first one, however there is a marking on the loop, '70'. Lind & Meyrer?

    The marking on the ring;

    Let me know your opinions! If needed, I'll try to take a few pictures in sunlight to hopefully bring out better details.

    I would say it's a maker's mark 76.
    It's typical for this maker, that the maker's mark isn't good to read (special the 6).

      Thank you for your thoughts, I would have never considered it a 6!

        A tip for removing permanant marker is to get a dry wipe marker, as used on white wipe boards, go over the permanant ink with it and then wipe off. It may be tricky getting in the corners etc but it does work.
