    Spanish Cross CEJ

    Hello all,

After studying the past threads I am certain that this item is post war, if anything just because the CEJ stamp is not right. I have 4 others that are identical (two silver, with & w/o swords, and two bronze, with & w/o swords ) and that have exactly the same stamp minus the silver content on the two bronzes. Any sage advice would help.

I tend to agree this is not a good cross. The first thing that jumps out at you is that the arms of the cross are very flat and lack any contour. The rosette lack clarity and depth. CEJ crosses normally have two arms of the swastica under the eagle cut out and not three. There are other problems but you do not need to look to far on this I think. Send it back if possible.

If you have some decent way of measuring the dimensions, see if you can get a reading for these lines. You will notice the rosette is off center. We can compare it to a known original.

I totally agree, this is not one that I would want in my collection.

It also looks like the pebbling lack details, and the back of the cross is not as smooth as you would except.

                Very good and correct analysis.

I think the surface flaws on the reverse is enough to tell us that we are looking at a fake.

There is no doubt that is a fake. I call it the heavy eyebrow fake.
