like to see closer pics of the hinges etc, but can you really believe this was war-time field converted?

First time here too. Either somebody got impatient waitng for the real thing or it's a bogus....

The hinge and pin look a lot like L/58 Souval. If that's good or bad I'll leave up to you.

Thanks Frank that really got me thinking.... Is there any period in e War or situation that they got to wait for a long time to be awarded with the kvk1?

Looks like a '57ish hardware system on the reverse as well.

Could be Darrell except that the catch don't look like Souval or 57. A big boy for sure as far as I can see.

Sim, no idea but what's the point with this one? If it was to make a fake, it's a give away as soon as it's turned around so maybe the impatient soldier but your guess is a good as mine.

Just like anything in this hobby. If a buck can be made it will. KVK's are a dime a dozen, but an "authentic" (if you could ever prove that - with any converted piece) would fetch much more.

It's interesting to note that some '57 KvKIs are of the same configuration.

The pin is post war IMO.

Interestingly enough just like the L/58 Souval KVK1's that have been discussed as postwar by the majority of folks here.
