    Good Souval Ek2, right?

    Hello,

just got this unmarked Souval EK2 and the gut feeling is good, though I don't have anything to compare it with other than the article on Souval frames and other originals on the forum. Did a couple of searches on the forum but could'nt find any fakes to compare to.

here's the pix so you don't have to click the link (below).... a good souval IMO. Is the loop attached on one side to the frame only? That's what mine looked like.

          Original

Could be a Friedrich Orth EK II, too.
Souval provided Orth with frames, too.

IMHO - Authentic pre 45 Souval Frame EKII

            Hello Henrik,

I agree the EKII is Souval. The expected horizontal die flaw is clear on the 12 o'clock arm as are the rounded inner corners of the beading by the swas and the single extended bead in each corner of all four arms.

Given the overall appearance of the cross and without any evidence to the contrary I would says it was assembled pre 45 as well.

            Regards,
            Stu

Thanks a lot for the fast replies guys, and also for attaching the pics! Loop is only attached to the front of the top frame, not the back.
Edit: Missed your reply Stu, thanks.

              Cheers,
              Henrik

I'm still a little confused about the souval frames, the F.O. frame below (#15 marked cross does certainly not come from the same die as the Souval above. I'll go back and read that Souval frame article again.
Aaah Rudi - so many discussions on you!
here's a thread on the #15 crosses 1st and 2nd class, seems like the ring on them is soldered on one side only, too. pix coming up to compare....

Ring soldered on one side only

                      your Souval should look similar...

I have compared with my Souval EK II (maker's mark 98) and I think it's the same date design, therefore I think you have a Souval EK II.

I have seen only a L/14 EK II (Orth) with Souval frame, not with maker's mark 15.

                        Regards

I'm referring to yours as the Souval and the one from the thread I linked as the Orth cross - Here's the two right next to each other, have a close look!
