    Parade Mount EKII - undersize?

    Hi guys,

I have a Parade Mount EKII I am reviewing. It's a nice piece in hand but I have noticed that although the overall dimensions come close to conforming to those of a standard EKII the thickness is 1mm less and the width of the arms is 1.5mm less at 24.5mm rather than the average 26. Quite noticeable when placed next to another EKII, as I have shown in one of the pictures.

Cross is three piece construction, non-ferrous core and unmarked.

Most EK swas I have are 8mm in width along a horizontal axis measurement. This one is just barely 7mm, again, a little bit smaller than I am used to seeing. Swas sits nice and high and is of the "plateau" style.

Overall a nice looking piece just slightly below average size all around. Can anyone suggest a maker? Was any particular manufacturer known for these size EK? As its a bit smaller and non-ferrous might it be an early private purchase?

    Any information/opinions would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Stu

I have several undersized and very lightweight Iron Crosses 2nd Class. I just attribute this to early production.

Also on your comparison photo it looks like you have it next to a wide frame EKII so that will help make your parade Cross look smaller as well.

                      Hi Stu,

In regards to a maker, the only EKII that I am familiar with that has the swastika on a 'plateau' is the number '13'. Nice parade mount.

                        Hi Guys,

Thanks to each of you for your comments and pictures. I'm quite comfortable with it now.

Robert, I will check further on that "13" information. Learn something new every day.

                        Regards to all,

                          Stu,

Here's a Gustav Brehmer '13' which actually has the swastika sitting atop a square elevated 'plateau'...

                            Plateau

                            Hi Robert,

I see what you mean. I realize now that my swas is not on a plateau. Has tapered sides but is not elevated as is the 13. Thanks.

                            Regards,
                            Stu

                              Stu,

To add a little more to this, I have a Gustav Brehmer '13' that has an almost non-existant 'plateau'. It must have had a 'softer' strike, or something. The dates are exactly right, the frame, everything - but the 'plateau' is hard to see.
