    Russian Horde Ek1 '26'

Is this the real deal or not?

    Thanks guys!

It's a real "26". A Russian Horde one? Who knows. Most of the Horde do some with a case.

Could be. But that's all you could really say.

There's no real way to tell, especially as time goes by and they switch hands a few times. I guess the next thing will be calling any really good condition 26 marked EK1 a Russian Horde piece to get a few extra dollars. There is nothing to distinguish them from other 26 marked EK1's if condition is the same.

Great point. I have a mint 26 ek 1 with the same pin, and I've never heard or thought of it as a 'Russian Horde' piece before. But hey, that sounds great. . Seriously though, it was my understanding that the 'Russian Horde' pieces all came with the rectangle push button cases. If that's not so, then someone can set me straight. I've also seen both pin assemblies from Mayers' called 'Russian Horde' pieces. I wonder if this too, is true. Anyone?

Here's a complete package Russian Horde with the accepted square button case as mentioned above.

I guess the one in question could have been separated from it's case ... but you could always ask why?

Thanks for showing that beauty Darrell. I doubt anyone would ever seperate a beauty like that from it's case, but stranger things have happened, but I couldn't fathom anyone ever doing that. I just believe he had a very nice Mayers. Mayers have a very nice finish to their crosses. These Russian Horde pieces are exceptional. Just curious, has the market ever leveled out any on these cased Russian Hordes? For a while their, the prices were going through the roof. Someone, about a year ago, listed one on the estand for something like a eight or nine hundred dollars, and it didn't last a minute. I can definately see the appeal, because they are very nice to look at. I wonder if these square button cases ever come up for sale? I don't recall any recently, but I would love to have one myself.

Well, I haven't seen one for sale recently, but the way other minty EKs are selling for, I would hate to guess what someone would get now days. Just look on e-stand. There's a cased "near mint" 65 offered for nearly $900 US

Another insomniac? You're right Darrell, the prices have gone crazy. That's a double edge sword for most of us. Good for the dealers and sellers, bad for the collectors and buyers, but as crazy as it is, the market is what it is. Their was a time, not too long ago, that guys like Stomper, were buying everything, immediately, that hit the estand, but even some of these guys have slowed down a bit.

Being offered and sold are two different things.

100% correct. However, "MINT" and the number "65" tend to sell. I wouldnt doubt it going before it reaches $800

                              Hi,

Nice crosses. Here is my 26. It was one of the Russian Horde pieces.
