    EK1 Boxed/Cartoned

Any thoughts on the authenticity of this? It's been offered to me by a collector that I've not purchased from before, but who is recommended by a friend.

    Bob,

It looks to be an original unmarked pre-45 Souval EKI with good case. The outer cartonage looks good to me, but I am no expert on paper goods. It's odd that the seller would remove the upper portion of the case. Usually the bottom portion of the case is removed to see the maker's initials (DB, etc.).

Does the outer cartonage have a maker's name printed on it's side?

It looks like a good cross and box to me too...if You don't take it, I sure will!

Robert, I have an EK1 where the top glue has just given up, and it falls out. That could be the case here.

        Ya,

I was thinking the same thing too. Like many of my WWII US decoration sets - humidity or just plain poor horse glue.

          with regards,
