War merit cross 1st clas w/o swords on the E-stand

Hi all, I am not saying it is a fake, becauce I would not know...but I really think the L/21 mark on the badge looks really strange, or at least I have never seen a MM this way.

Also the finishing on the pin look sstrange, please take a look.

From what I have seen, I believe that is the correct pin style for L21 type items. I haven't seen a kvk by this maker, but I find it quite interesting that it is double marked.

One similar was posted earlier on (a year ago?) but I can't find the thread. L/21's are different in some ways eg the double marking on some. They come in two flavors, as far as I know and the first one is below. Zinc cross with soldered(?) catch and hinge.

A cousin with more traditional zinc in-one-piece catch and hinge plus double marking.

and finally one without swords but the same setup as # 2.

The finish on the pins seems to vary from smooth to rough, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

I'm not an expert by far so if somebody has something to add please do so.

PS: Thanks to the owners for borrowing the pics. # 2 was posted by Frank H some time ago.

              Very good reference material there.
