      It is a copy which is creeping in to the arena. Without an original to compare to it is a very deceptive offering. I am convinced it is a copy.

        It just seemed to me that in the photos that the dates on the rear of the orginial and "suspect" were the same. But then again you have studied both crosses in hand and with photos it is hard to make a clear judgement. So thanks for confirming that Robert.
        That's another fake to look for.

              There is a correction and confirmation now to these Zimmerman crosses .
              Just did a post oct 30 -My thin date EK2 , that shows the existance of an early and late frame combined with an early date : thicker date front and thin date reverse , ..and a later thin front and thin reverse .
              As in this case die worn first die was reused as , > re-engraved , giving a wider beading , ..as I have one of these in hand now . The early second type is still struck on solid >first core and beading and right 2nd core -wider beading with traces of the beading to seen .
