    Flock for education...

    Hi all,

We've been seeing a few Flocks come through the boards over time, so I thought I would post some good clear photos to help others identify this fake so that they could arm themselves against this intruder.
I've seen it quite often with a '49' stamp, although I am sure there are other examples with different numbers to broad to mention.
I have never seen a frosted Flock. They're usually very clean, and have a 'sterling' appearance to them.
Their welded seams (yes, they're a 3-piece construction) are very well done.
They're suspension rings are very nicely welded.
They come as an EKI also.

    Robert

Thank you Robert for taking the time. These are very close and have fooled me. (Notice the date close to the frame)

Yes, another thing to watch for in identifying them. Thanks, Mike.

There's only one thing I dislike more than a fake, a person who will take a perfectly good vintage antique EK, our trade, and deface it with a fake stamp to 'up' it's value. I think this is the most disrespectful thing a person can do to these EK's, even more so than faking them. Just my thoughts.

              Thanks Mike,
              Robert

No, I find no place in the book devoted to fakes of the EK.

Is it known for certain that "Flock" or Floch had these manufactured post war?The Cloth insignia firm of Carl Sieder continued to sell original pieces after the war as well as manufacture them.
It seems unusual to me that Floch found the stippled surface one piece EKs worthy of copying after the war.A seldom encountered Iron Cross but yet he felt it was worth making a copy?
